God's Captivated Captives
Psalm 126 speaks of Israel's dream of returning from captivity back to their home city of Jerusalem. The people of Israel eventually returned home, filled with laughter and tears of joy. Israel recognized that God had blessed them and praised him openly for delivering them. In praising God publicly, Israel influenced other nations by proclaiming God's righteousness to all who would listen. God restored the fortunes of Zion because he is righteous and always keeps his covenant promises. In a like manner, God will keep his promise to those of the new covenant, Christians. Christians should praise God for what he has done for us knowing that this calls attention to the righteousness of God.
